Nominacije za The Game Awards 2023 su objavljene, a Alan Wake 2 i Baldur’s Gate 3 dijele najviše nominacija, po osam u ukupno 31 kategoriji. Oba naslova su u konkurenciji za glavnu nagradu Igre godine, ali također se natječu u kategorijama Najbolje režije igre, Najbolje priče, Najbolje glazbe i Najbolje glumačke izvedbe.
Također s visokim brojem nominacija je Spider-Man 2 s sedam nominacija. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros Wonder i Hi-Fi Rush su svi nominirani za pet nagrada svaki, dok su Cyberpunk 2077 i Final Fantasy 16 nominirani za četiri nagrade svaki. Igre sa tri nominacije, Resident Evil 4 i Street Fighter 6, zaokružuju glavnu grupu s višestrukim nominacijama.
Svake godine najuzbudljiviji dio jest glavna nagrada Igre godine, s ukupno šest nominacija, a zapaženo je da su svi nominirani naslovi nastavci već dobro poznatih igara:

Kao ljubitelj RPG-a i borbe na poteze, lijepo je vidjeti da Baldur’s Gate 3 ove godine zauzima vodeće mjesto. CEO tvrtke Larian, Swen Vincke, je nakon nedavne dodjele nagrada Golden Joystick Awards otišao kući sa sedam trofeja, tako da se ne sumnja u uspjeh na nadolazećoj dodjeli nagrada.
Malo je čudno da je Starfield nominiran samo u jednoj kategoriji: Najbolje RPG igre, gdje ima prilično ozbiljnu konkurenciju, pa je potpuno moguće da će veliki Bethesdin RPG ove godine otići kući praznih ruka, što je bilo teško za zamisliti pred izlazak ove igre.
The Game Awards 2023 je na rasporedu u četvrtak, 8. prosinca, u 01:30 po srednjoeuropskom vremenu, te će biti dostupan za gledanje na YouTubeu, Twitchu, TikToku i drugim društvenim mrežama. Glasanje za javnost je trenutno otvoreno na službenoj The Game Awards web stranici, koje traje do srijede, 7. prosinca u 01:00.
